I think continued dollar weakness, unless the carry trades unwind. USD/CAD might go down further is oil continues to rise.. The canadian economy looks in much better shape than the US at the moment.

Hard to really answer it. News trading is very different. There are so many ways to trade it. Some people have bloomberg terminals and do reallllly well beating the spikes.

well my short did ok, +50 pips, the trailing stop activated. Certainly seems to be a lot of sellers around 2.0550.

Yes, the news is pound negative, so the pound may fall on the news. It's not a certainty though.

If you are new, you will almost certainly lose your money. I wouldn't bother trading live for a while yet.

BGC are part of cantor fitzgerald arn't they? They are reallllly big with a lot of big institutional accounts. If this is the case, an IB might be better, because BGC themselves won't be geared to deal with retail clients.

you guys sure risk a lot of your account. I don't usually risk more than 1% on a trade! Often only 0.5% if I am trading two pairs that are closely correlated

Never had any problems with CMS. They are a lot bigger than many retail brokers now which is a plus. The only thing is the spreads are a bit higher than some brokers, but execution has always been good. I have never traded with them during the news ...

1 pip = 1000 yen on 1 lot. your profit on short will be 1m yen or -1m yen. at 225 it will be +1m. 1m/225=4444GBP at 245 it will be -1m. -1m/245=-4081GBP this would leave a profit regardless of which way price moved.
