I agree with you auslanco on your thoughts of the retrace. I actually just got back to my computer and ya beat me to it! haha Lately, I have been regarding the 50% fib retracement level in much higher regard for the gbp/jpy than the 61.8 level.

Very true. There is no reason to short just yet until the price itself confirms this is a good position to take. The fact that it hit the fibonacci retracement level does not necessarily mean that it will drop alone.
