Backtest — Answers to the backtesting questions: The system was mechanically tested over 1 year (2004) of Euro Futures data. This is not Forex data, but the movement and scale of Euro Futures is almost identical to that of EUR/USD, and in my ...

Just to let you know, I backtested this strategy on E-Signal, over the Euro Futures tick data for the whole of 2004 and 2005. Euro futures is strongly correlated with EUR/USD for obvious reasons. This system is profitable straight out of the box. I ...

Inflection, that was a great post, and you should be proud of your ethics and demonstrating your lack of greed. I myself have been ditching most of my indicators and looking at basic price breakout strategies, but for your information, one indicator ...
Two-Stroke System (Mechanical Price Action +300 pips per month)
- rogerha replied Jul 19, 2007
This definitely has the makings of something positive here. My initial comment pertains to the apparent lack of a stop loss, which means it will take some 'bravery' to run with this at times I suspect. I also suspect as soon as you engage some sort ...

Icidentally Vantage, did you know that Williams %R is essentially the same as Stochastic, but not smoothed? So if you set up a Stoch with 14,1,1 you will get the same as Williams, but without the inverse scale.

Hi Jarcorcker, The exit strategies that you havebeen testing with don't seem to bear any resembelence to the exits that Vantage has described. Which is if read it correctly, a 50pip stop, trailing in 50 pip increments. Rogerha

Actually, thank you Plutonite ! Not sure what you mean with your last question. My idea would mean that the ATR would not be a static figure but actually derived from the live figure of ATR(9) (or a another more approriate length). I am not sure if ...

Very interesting concept here. Rather than providing an aribtrary figure for y, had you considered using ATR or multiples of ATR, then you have something fully dynamic that takes into account ATR and well as the ratio's that you speak of which take ...

Yes, I am not using the 4HAS indicator, just the original HASmoothed. What you are seeing there is probably why the guy who posted that indicator suggested a reload of the indicator to confirm. So you're right, that one repaints, but the original ...
HAS Indicator - Misc indicators & EA's
- rogerha replied Mar 9, 2007
I don't think that is the MTF indicators repainting problem. Everybody knows that when a candle is developing, an indicator will change state, which is why a lot of traders will wait for a bar close for confirmation. In my experience 'repainting' ...

So the idea being is you place that in your lowest TF. If bar CLOSES above/below stop, time to get out. However if your standard HAS gets you out sooner (which most times it won't), take that exit.
