Beautiful place. You will get it anyway, I just hope it won't be too hard.

I still hope for a deal. I know that "the best way out is always through", but I don't want to see an economic and social collapse. People just don't realise how fragile our whole way of life is. I guess I am an alarmist and my fears are ...

I read through the news (you have to read attentively, not just the headlines), and I am convinced more than ever that this round of talks will fail, and no deal scenario will start crystallizing. There may be an agreement further down the road, but ...

It surely will, but may also come back on the way down.
I have seen it before: GBP softens against EUR but not against dollar, and then EU reverts, and GU goes lower with it (or faster).Cable Update (GBPUSD)

No, as I said, R/R was great, and this strategy was great. My point was, I think we will break in the next day or two.

Could you please explain, how do you determine this? Thanks!

You are right of course, R/R was great. But we are in the world of finite entities, nothing lasts forever. Maybe the new high and retest of last week's low in the same day indicate that we are about to break free. It's not that we lack strong ...

Correlation is tricky in this case, depends on the reason for the movement. Pound weakness usually helps FTSE100 companies many of which are global. At the same time, risk on will usually help both FTSE and pound (conversely with risk off). Today we ...

Market sells GBP on Brexit and USD on stimulus. I guess buying EG and EU/AU may be wiser than trading GU, but every time I look at them I think "they are too high already". The good thing though, when dollar starts to show strength (it should happen ...

Ok, 1.329 probably held for today (barring some more news), and I hope to see more buying. I am in the business of selling spikes, so I need spikes to sell.

London fix recovered its usual ~50 pips, now the moment of truth: does Brexit beat the US stimulus?

At the risk of stating the obvious, EU is most traded pair simply because most real trade in the world is done in USD or EUR. And this is also why EU is quite stable, not usually subject to chaotic swings.

For me, there is also a question of timing. Market showed it is willing to react to negative Brexit news (note this was not really the case on the way up). Tomorrow will likely see more negative news as Frost/Barnier will update on the status of ...

I don't think there would be a retest, break today or not. I want to see it, but GU moved in the range for more than a week. A new trend should start with an unrecoverable impulse I think.

No deal is getting closer. Bulls will do very well to hold 1.329.

Pipfarm, I think this thread is great exactly because everyone brings his own perspective. I for one am happy to learn the views from both fundamental and technical standpoints.

The market always makes the same mistake. It thinks that politics is mainly about economy, or livelihood, or well-being of people, and therefore politicians will make decisions that are good for the country's economy. But politics is not about these ...

It rises because of perceived USD weakness, both longer-term and caused by renewed stimulus talks. Yesterday's news was just pretext to break the resistance (still important as catalyst). Brexit is a huge story, but not a source of all movements.
