I use fxpro ecn with the ctrader platform, the average spread I've seen on gbp/usd is under 1, but it changes a few times a second from 0 pips upto 1.2 or so, looking at eur/usd it is fluttering around 1 and under.

I've just closed for 10+ pips @ 3120 and thats me for the day, better than a kick in the balls, the price has stalled on the smaller timeframes and going off todays PA, it will reverse quickly...would rather take the 10 pips than it reverse and stop ...

I find the 2 and 3 minute charts are good for seeing when the price is stalling, thus getting me to close a trade, keeping those extra few pips before the price goes back up or down.

can you profit on non-standard time frames?

It may rocket upwards on monday, or wait for a small break below 1.2 before the bank intervenes sending it north fast
