Should have hedged 100% if you could not withstand a move against you. What happened was a case of lack of risk control and not a case of lack of stoploss.

No I don't think people buy low. They usually do something similar to buying at 10 and stopping at 5. So they always aim to buy high and sell low. Support and resistance don't change this fact.
