I have been trading so long that it is easy for me to identify a trend, but an easy way to do it is to put a 20 ema on your chart... When price is above the ema look for longs, when it's below look for shorts..

If you are just starting out then yes wait for a trend.. The more advance traders will take patterns from reversals and failed breakouts.. But for now stick with the trend and support & resistance..

No...I never noticed it, but that is something you can probably look into.. I'm more focus on what the market is doing at the time.. I can trade without the MA if I want, but I'm so used to the MA being on the chart so I just leave it there..
