Same for me. I have been trying to find this balance between trading, working, family... Not so easy off course, but as long as we find it, the chances of success may increase.

Is trading really that hard?

For me, the demo is helping to build up some skills and to test strategies. While I am not very confident of my potential/strategy I use a small live account to offer the emotional challenge. I intend to gradually increase it.
