Crypto bill advances in US Senate but faces obstacles

The U.S. Senate Agriculture Committee, which oversees commodities trading, advanced a bill on Thursday that would establish a federal regulatory framework for ​cryptocurrencies on a party-line vote, an indication that the legislation likely lacks enough support to be passed by the full Senate. If passed, the bill would give the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission the authority to oversee spot crypto markets and create rules for digital commodity exchanges, brokers and dealers.
