US consumer confidence down in October

The Consumer Sentiment Index in the United States slid 2.7% in October compared to the month before, to stand at 53.6, as per the final monthly report posted by the University of Michigan on Friday. The figure was down by 24% annually. The Current Economic Conditions Index went down 3% in the reported period compared to September and 9.7% annually, standing at 58.6 points. The Index of Consumer Expectations decreased by 2.7% on a monthly basis to 50.3, and tumbled 32.1% on a yearly basis.
