SNB chair: Switzerland does not need stablecoin

Swiss National Bank (SNB) Governing Board Chairman Martin Schlegel shared on Wednesday his view that the landlocked country does not need its federal stablecoin. Speaking before the Ticino Bankers' Association in Vezia, Schlegel touched upon a number of topics, including the bank's monetary policy. He noted that the "bar is high to go into negative interest rate territory," but that the SNB will do it if necessary.
