U.S. retail giants Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN) and Walmart (NYSE: WMT) are reportedly exploring issuing their own stablecoins, The Wall Street Journal reported on 13 June. A stablecoin is a type of cryptocurrency that, unlike traditionally volatile cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, aims to maintain a stable value. It is generally pegged to a fiat currency such as the U.S. dollar or a commodity such as gold.
