SEC chief says agency X account was hacked after apparent bitcoin fund approval

Securities and Exchange Commissioner (SEC) Gary Gensler said Tuesday that the agency’s account on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, was hacked, after it appeared to announce the approval of several bitcoin investment funds. “The @SECGov twitter account was compromised, and an unauthorized tweet was posted. The SEC has not approved the listing and trading of spot bitcoin exchange-traded products,” Gensler said in a post on X through his official account.
