1700 people die every day in USA and about 26000 around the world from Cancer alone...COVID is a joke. There will be a spike and that's about it. Making a way bigger deal out of this then it really is.

Cheers OT, this is another report of major heart complications resulting from the virus causing death.

------------

The 33-year-old social media star returned home after several days, but he had to be rushed back to the hospital last week after his condition quickly deteriorated.
The virus apparently caused irreversible heart complications.

Covid-19 Is Looking More and More Like an Autoimmune Disease

------------

How could a virus cause you to reject your own heart like it was a transplant?”

Icenogle combed the research and found evidence that autoimmune processes — ones triggered by a virus — could be to blame.

He later had success treating myocarditis with powerful transplant drugsthat essentially turned off the immune system and therefore blocked the autoimmune processes from doing more damage.

Now, in the context of the pandemic, Icenogle speculates that some of these same transplant drugs may prove helpful in treating Covid-19.

Isn't HIV's main effect to turn off the immune system?

There are so many things the scientists still don't know about Covid. A year into it and they find new things every day. It doesn't mean that what they find is good news or even accurate either. https://www.studyfinds.org/coronavir...imilar-to-hiv/

Like they say, this virus is a game changer on all levels. Right now hoping the vaccines (when they becomes available to all) are going to work for those taking it.

Once I listened to a podcast about a traveler catching the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) virus. He nearly died and they even had arranged his funeral but his wife just happened to be a virologist or something like that. She found out that before the modern medicine had taken over, there were treatments against viruses that were actually worked well. She managed to team up with a group of Russian scientists and come up with a cure that saved her husband. HE was eventually 100% cured.

The treatment involved finding other viruses that basically ate the MERS virus. These viruses were unharmful to humans. They were found in sludge from sewers. That's were they live. They pretty much injected the sludge directly into his veins. It surprisingly worked.

This is not just an old waif's tale. After the event she got funded to start studies on expending the knowledge base on virus vs, virus treatments. It is apparently a legitimate undertaking. However, I tried to look into who she was and what her new virus research institution was called but I couldn't find anything. maybe it was my poor research studies. If anyone finds out the details, maybe post a link.

Hi OT,

No mate I don't think HIV effects to turn off the immune system.

But yes HIV definitely damages the immune system.

It does this by attacking the blood cells that help you fight infection.

No vaccine has been found yet for HIV that will prevent infection.

They’ve been trying since the mid ‘80s.

HIV is now quite safely treated though by therapeutic drugs that stop the virus multiplying.

Those drugs help protect the innate immune system from the damage caused by HIV.

The new covid vaccines I believe (well, the current ones) will help to make people be asymptomatic which should stop the runs on hospital beds and have people able to work without actually feeling sick (even if they have the virus).

If everyone was asymptomatic then it mightn't matter whether you still had the virus as it wouldn't actually affect you (or maybe others).

From Nature magazine.

re asymptomatic persons with the virus

https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-020-19802-w

All asymptomatic positive cases, repositive cases and their close contacts were isolated for at least 2 weeks until the results of nucleic acid testing were negative.

None of detected positive cases or their close contacts became symptomatic or newly confirmed with COVID-19 during the isolation period.

The citywide nucleic acid screening of SARS-CoV-2 infection in Wuhan recruited nearly 10 million people, and found no newly confirmed cases with COVID-19.

The detection rate of asymptomatic positive cases was very low, and there was no evidence of transmission from asymptomatic positive persons to traced close contacts.

We are still learning each day about this virus. They will nail it in the future for the safety for our citizens imo.

The parents of my son's friend caught the virus about a month ago. They are in their mid 50's. She did ok and seemed to come out without too many complications. He, on the other hand kept suffering from weakness, pain in his chest, confusion, fatigue and so on. Upon further examination, it was discovered that he has cancer and his condition is deteriorating rapidly.

Like they say; no one gets out alive. It's going to be one thing or another, sooner or later.

Cheers OT,

My best wishes to your sons’ friend's family and to everyone and anyone caught up in this current world nightmare.

Our species are inventative and resilient (well, to a point).

The future CAN be bright.

Have a great break over the festive period

(And yes, sooner or later, for sure - a given )
