I want to start a discussion about what everyone thinks the ideal crypto portfolio looks like. I will admit that I want to know not only for curiosity sake but also because I am considering re-allocating some of my BTC portfolio for diversity sake.

Currently, my crypto portfolio is the following:

  1. 73% BTC
  2. 9% ETH
  3. 4% BCH
  4. 3% LTC
  5. 2% ZEC
  6. 2% XLM
  7. 2% BAT
  8. 5% Other (DASH, BSV, DOGE etc)

My portfolio is not ideal. Currently look like this in USD terms: BTC 97%, BCH 2%, DOGE 1%

You portfolio is looking well positioned, but we both need more DOGE buddy.

Thanks for the reminder that I need to diversify.

Agreed! I would probably have more DOGE already if it was easier to buy and store. Good reminder all the same.. I'll prob like to get DOGE to about 5%

Tezos (XTZ) is a cryptocurrency and decentralized computing platform. Its features include proof of stake consensus, formal verification (which lets developers verify the correctness of their code), and the ability to let stakeholders vote on changes to the protocol. Tezos's block creation process is called "baking" — Tezos holders who stake their tokens can receive passive tokens as a reward for creating and verifying blocks.

Atm I can't decide if I should buy altcoins because they are relatively cheap compared to bitcoin or if I should ride out this wave of BTC dominance for awhile... I want to diversify my portfolio more but I'm going to at least wait until BTC dominance hits 70%.

Currently at 100% BTC, with the exception of a few DOGE sent by TMR. Just getting started. Like the idea of weighting it towards the big boat, but I'm looking around.

Interesting idea, using crypto as part of a larger portfolio. I've always considered it too volatile for an investment per se. How (what percentage) would that fit into a portfolio of total net worth? Including hard and variable assets?

This is roughly my net worth distribution:

55% - stocks/bonds
37% - my house
5% - vehicles
2% - crypto
1% - metals

In the short term I'd like to see vehicles and crypto swap places. Longer term I'd like to add some real estate investments.

Well, I am a rather "traditional" here, so I would say... 100% BTC
I want a crypto that is well known, convertible... I have ATM machines (buy and sell) close to me...
Good support network.... Also, market is rather big (volume) and liquid... so very good for trading...
And almost anyone knows about it. It is well tested and everything.. So that would be my reasoning which you do not have to agree of course, just answering what was asked
Can you afford to take that chance?

I find it interesting that your allocation to crypto is twice that of gold. Is that because of the volatility or do you think it more valuable? Also interesting that you've included vehicles? Are the collectable vehicles it just your ride around town?

I think crypto is more valuable than gold; it has more room to grow.

Crypto is at a point now where gold was in 2000 B.C. Back when man first dug up that shiny shit it was worth nothing. Eventually he kinda liked how it sparked in the sunlight. Then more people started lusting after that same sparkle. After a while it became obvious that this material was relatively rare. Then its value started going up.

Bitcoin is going through that same process now. And I think it's just getting started.

I don't think a Kia Rio is a collectible . My AMG is worth a lot more, but it's still a stupid investment.

Good point, crypto for me is about 5% of my net worth. But this is not because I started it that way. It started out as less than 1% back in 2013 but has grown large mostly through the price appreciation.

Overall though I am curious which altcoins people choose to buy and how they allocate overall. Seems like most are heavy on BTC around here.
