I don't know if anyone jumped on this deal from Shapeshift earlier this week: https://twitter.com/ShapeShift_io/st...89894113153026

It made me curious what hardware wallets everyone uses out there. I have been using the Ledger personally..

Keepkey, last time I checked sucks compared to Ledger or Trezor. I haven't kept up with the market since I got my hardware wallets last year, but Ledger and Trezor are the only options I would consider. In fact, I bought both. Here's my opinion of both:

Trezor is better in terms of ease of use and not giving you any problems. I've never had any issues. It's drawback is lack of support for a lot of coins.

Ledger Nano S is really good and easy to use just like Trezor, but I've had issues with the Ledger that would make me think twice before buying it again over Trezor. First issue, I couldn't access my cryptos after the update to Ledger Live. I turned out to be a bad USB cable if I remember correctly. So, a heads up out there, Ledger is known for packaging cheap ass cables with their products. The other issue I have with Ledger is how quickly it fills up. Right now, I have BTC, ETH, XLM, XRP, and that's it. I tried to add DOGE wallet and it said to remove a current one. That's redic. So I put my DOGE on my Trezor and like always, it was reliable.

I'd say Trezor and Ledger are about even in my book. If you buy either make sure you stay off amazon unless you're sure you're buying it from the company. Otherwise just go to the website and buy it directly.

Crypto Wallets is an area where there's a huge gap in the market. I expect there to be a lot of competition coming to this niche market pretty soon. When it does come, I hope somebody will offer a better screen to work with. Bigger, colors, etc. Until then, keep it safe gents!

All the hardware wallets I own are first generation. I own a Trezor One, Ledger Nano S, and KeepKey. I sleep best at night with my crypto on my Trezor because they have great developers behind their product, they are frequently updating their firmware for any vulnerabilities, and they support most hard forks.

I would not recommend a Ledger Nano S as I have encountered many problems with the Ledger Live desktop software and also application storage space on the device.

If I had to recommend a hardware wallet to a friend or family member, it would have to be the KeepKey because it is very user friendly and works with an easy to install Google Chrome extension.

Currently using the Ledger Nano X. Been happy so far, but still early in my coin accumulation phase. I like the bluetooth connectivity to phone.

Strange I've had no issues with the Ledger Live software on windows or iOS, it was a MASSIVE improvement over the old per-coin software wallets which was extremely tedious to use. Sending money is still fiddly as you need the device, but better that than relying on some exchange to keep my money safe!

Overall I have no complaints, maybe that's just my use case though. Buy, store, lock the device away

How does the Trezor fair lately with currency support? The ledger supported more at the time I bought which is what won me over.

I use a Ledger Nano S and it's great. The only cons are that it's French and the device UX is pretty trash.

Ok, just noticed there is an existing thread... So I might delete mine but post the content here...
But not sure it this thread covers the whole spectrum since it focuses on the hardware wallet?
I am interested in any/all COLD STORAGE options...

I've never heard of this one, so I'm not recommending it. It's pretty cool because it's like a credit card. https://www.coolwallet.io/

I have a little update since I first posted this thread guys. The Ledger Nano S that I have made me a bit angry over the weekend because it seems to have lost my Litecoin balance.

I did not access my ledger for quite a while but I booted it up last weekend and saw that there were several firmware updates etc. Before I could do that I had to delete all the wallet apps and then reinstall them after the firmware updates were complete. During the process, my ledger crashed. No big deal though, I restored it from my seed phrase and continued on my way.

Then when all was said and done I realized that my LTC balance was zero. BTC, ETH and XRP balances were all fine but something must have happened to my LTC wallet. Luckily I only had 1 LTC in there so it could be worse.

TMR I may try the Keepkey if you like it. I also have my eye on keevo but have to wait for it to come out first.

Your LTC should still be there and tied to that passphrase so it's not really "lost", you tried uninstalling/reinstalling LTC on the device? Are you viewing the segwit address balance or legacy address balance?

That keevo looks pretty slick, but it sounds like they are making hardware wallets more complex than they need to be. I would trust a seed phrase over their "Carbon Key" any day.
