Thanks for sharing, let us know how it goes. I am skeptical about the use of SLs and ratios in countertrend strategies, so I would never use them that way.

@niks speaks truth, Nasdaq has a very strong upward bias so shorting is usually not a good idea. The same is true for the rest of the stock indices.

Welcome @micromin! That was not too bad as an entry point, but you shouldn't expect price to mirror the same move downwards with the same force and speed in every trade, you have to measure this in real-time. Also: 1) You have to get used to the ups ...

@PR31D I'd say those are well-timed entries and exits, and that you are getting the hang of it very fast, good job! Tradingview has very interesting machine learning indicators that are 100% free, perhaps one of those is worth testing for ...

Thanks for sharing your analysis @niks, I have not studied bitcoin in full detail, but will try to come up with a mechanical system for it (if possible). I notice the upward bias was a lot stronger in the early days, now we got a lot of ranging ...

@niks that catch on bitcoin was simply wonderful, how did you know it was coming?

It's okay to have losing trades. This one is too close to the 200 EMA and price is in a tight consolidation, both are perfect conditions for a breakout.

That's trend following in a nutshell (lots of whipsaw). PS: You will rarely see a new trend just after the last trend is over. The next move is usually a pullback in a higher timeframe or consolidation period. If you want to catch a new fresh trend ...

This is a brief interview of Aatu Kokkila who is currently the #1 top trader in Darwinex. I thought it would be interesting for most members here because his style involves high impact news trading and analysis of the lower timeframes. He is also a ...

It's still work in progress! I intend to combine it with a few trend following systems and stock indices* to increase diversification, then they'll go into incubation. I am glad to read that @delta4x! You can use this thread as a journal for your ...

I automated a SIMILAR system that uses Point-O Renko charts in AUDCAD, EURCAD, USDCAD and EURGBP, you can read my study here. I am not sharing the EA, but replicating it shouldn't be a problem for a savy algo trader. Automating such a low timeframe ...

Nice trade, be welcome!

@Amah: image The main reason why I don't recommend trading the news directly is because a lot of things can go wrong: - Flash crash against your positions. - Huge slippage. - Runaway trends. - News events introduce "outliers" and high volatility, ...

We haven't seen a single screenprint of your trades so there is no way to know if you are overleveraging or trading the wrong setups/instruments. The strategy clearly works in the right hands, IF you have the right mindset, and trading knowledge, ...

That was a very good setup actually, almost identical to what happened yesterday. You may want to avoid countertrend entries near the 200 EMA, when the range is (also) tight and square.

Great trades and accuracy @PR31D! You shouldn't feel bad about not catching the full motion back to the 200 EMA. There are a lot of instances where price doesn't do that for very long periods of time so exiting at the next retracement (as you ...

Hi @david79454! Thank you for your words and sorry for the late reply. Yes, I've coded it myself using a tool called Fxdreema. The coding itself wasn't hard, but the countless hours of testing, observing and researching the markets... ...

Just wanted to clarify that such results only apply for PointO renkos with specific brick sizes between 20, 25 and 50 pips, which are much closer to the H1 and H4 time candles, not the M1/M5 time candles the original strategy uses (it's a big ...

I didn't include any trend-following/switching-styles rules in this thread, just wanted to focus in the countertrend part. The original author has a paid course that includes them. Nevertheless, I recommend you practice the countertrend aspect of ...

Thank you for your words my friend! It was very hard work indeed, but totally worth it. I agree, Mladen is one of the best MQL coders out there. All his indicators run smoothly and do justice to the original ideas, that's why most of the EAs I build ...
