    In the week ending March 8, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 220,000, a decrease of 2,000 from the previous week's revised level. The previous week's level was revised up by 1,000 from 221,000 to 222,000. The 4-week moving average was 226,000, an increase of 1,500 from the previous week's revised average. The previous week's average was revised up by 250 from 224,250 to 224,500.     The number of seasonally adjusted initial jobless claims in the United States declined by 2,000 to 220,000 in the week ending March 8, the Department of Labor announced in its report on Thursday. The 4-week moving average grew by 1,500 from the previous week's unrevised average to stand at 226,000. Meanwhile, the insured unemployment rate came in at 1.2% in the week ending March 1, remaining unchanged in comparison to the previous week, as the insured unemployment number amounted to 1,870,000, down 27,000 from the previous week's unrevised figures. This data is almost assuredly manipulated to nudge the Fed to lower rates. These unemployment numbers aren't real.

lags yes. Markets are forward looking. The fact we are not pricing that in yet is scary.

Keep in mind: layoffs are not the same as new unemployment claims. For example, I suspect those who took the "voluntary retirement" package were ineligible for unemployment (in the short term at a minimum).

Additionally, recall that these are part of a broader picture. This number could be 5 million.....but if the "weekly hires" was 5.1 million, then unemployment is still going "down" and the labor market strong(ish). A very basic statement, but you get my point.

For the mid and short term it favours the greenback but don't forget fx trading is not a sprint rather it's a marathon. So stay at alert when the baton change hand.
