MicroStrategy adds 21,550 bitcoin to holdings, spending $2.1 billion in a week
MicroStrategy announced on Monday the acquisition of 21,550 bitcoin between Dec. 2 and Dec. 8, 2024, for $2.1 billion in cash. The average purchase price was around $98,783 per bitcoin, including fees, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The transaction was funded by proceeds from the sale of 5,418,449 company shares, which generated nearly $2.13 billion over the same period. As of Dec. 8, MicroStrategy’s total bitcoin holdings stood at 423,650, acquired at an average cost of $60,324 per coin. The company spent about $25.6 billion on its bitcoin purchases to date.
