it’s a survey. I don’t know the methodology, but I would assume there can be some crossover, but it may not be significant.

Good question. My interpretation that that 'job openings' looks at the role available from a corporation, whereas the situation you're describing is job adverts (ex recruiter here btw) - where there could easily be overlap.

Description from BLS (the key word being 'establishment', not advert:
The data is collected from sampled establishments on a voluntary basis. The data includes employment, job openings, hires, quits, layoffs and discharges, and other separations.
