Grovetown man sentenced in cryptocurrency computer scheme
A Columbia County man is heading to federal prison in connection with a scheme to sell crypto mining computers to customers that never received them. 40-year-old Steven Drawdy of Grovetown has been sentenced to 32 months in prison after pleading guilty to Wire Fraud. He’s also been ordered to pay restitution of more than $1.1 million and serve three years of supervised release. Court documents state that, from August 2021 to April 2022, Drawdy received more than $1.1 million from at least 42 victims that believed they were paying him to provide them with cryptocurrency mining computers.
