US durable goods orders up 1.4% in February
The number of durable goods orders in the United States rose by 1.4% or $3.7 billion in February, landing at $277.9 billion, a report published by the United States Census Bureau on Tuesday showed. Transportation equipment led the increase, up 3.3% or $2.9 billion in comparison to the previous month, coming in at $90.4 billion. Excluding transportation, new orders rose 0.5% month on month and excluding defense, they went up by 2.2%. Meanwhile, shipments of manufactured durable goods grew by 1.2% to $282.7 billion in February, and transportation equipment led the increase, improving by 4.0% to $89.8 billion.

US Durable Goods Orders expanded more than expected in February
On Tuesday, Durable Goods Orders in the United States expanded by 1.4%, or $3.7 billion, to $277.9 billion in February according to the Census Bureau. This reading followed the 6.9% decrease recorded in the first month of the year and came in above market expectation for an expansion of 1.1%.
