Ethereum Shapella Upgrade
This upgrade enables withdrawals of staked Ether for the first time since staking was launched in December 2020, which could lead to supply and demand imbalances in the market, thus, price volatility;
This upgrade will activate on the Ethereum network at epoch 194,048, and will enable validators to withdraw their staked Ether from the Beacon Chain back to the execution layer. In addition, the upgrade also aims to reduce network gas fees;

- Ethereum Shapella Upgrade News
The Ethereum network recently went through its largest upgrade since The Merge. In this report, Rich shares his take on how this full transition to Proof of Stake (PoS) could impact yields, liquidity, and overall market opportunity. The story for years has been the activity of central banks and their balance sheets, and the impact this has had on the market. Many have shown the correlations between the Federal Reserve balance sheet and the S&P 500. Still, others in crypto have suggested that this “de-basing” of fiat currency is a ...
Ethereum (ETH) rallied by 4.95% on Thursday. Following a 1.43% gain on Wednesday, ETH ended the day at $2,014. ETH held onto the $2,000 handle for the first time since May 2022. A bearish start to the day saw ETH fall to an early morning low of $1,901. Steering clear of the First Major Support Level (S1) at $1,872, ETH surged to an early evening high of $2,025. ETH broke through the First Major Resistance Level (R1) at $1,950 and the Second Major Resistance Level (R2) at $1,981 to wrap up the day at $2,014. Post-Shapella Upgrade ...
Cryptocurrency ether leapt more than 5 per cent in early Asia trade on Friday as traders breathed a sigh of relief that a software upgrade this week ran relatively smoothly. The second-biggest cryptocurrency by market capitalisation, ether rose to as high as $2,130.80, the most since May 2022. The upgrade, known as "Shapella," took effect on Wednesday. It had stoked fears of a selloff because it enabled investors to redeem tokens deposited on the blockchain in return for interest. Withdrawal delays were evident on Thursday, but the ...
The most significant upgrade to the Ethereum network since the ‘Merge’ took place last night. The Shanghai upgrade was successfully implemented on the Ethereum mainnet, enabling the withdrawal of staked ether (ETH) to complete the full transition to Proof-of-Stake (PoS). Since the go-live date of the first Ethereum Proof-of-Stake chain launched in 2020, the concept of staking has been on the mind of investors as they demanded yield in a low rate environment. By locking up, or ‘staking’ Ethereum, to validate transactions on the ...
Ether rallied to the highest since August after analysts said fears of rapid outflows following a highly anticipated software upgrade proved, so far, to be overdone Thursday. The so-called Shanghai, or Shapella, update enables investors to stand in a queue to withdraw Ether coins they had pledged to help operate the network in return for rewards, a process known as staking. And so far, 96% of withdrawal volume has been from users withdrawing their rewards instead of their entire stakes, according to researcher Flipside Crypto. Ether ...
Roughly one and a half years after Ethereum holders started staking Ether, they may now unstake to make their Ether accessible following the Shanghai hard fork. The day has been feared by the market, as it would allow 19.2mn Ether to be unlocked in the foreseeable future. However, at first sight, it appears that fewer than expected want to unstake, leading Ethereum to a nearly 5% gain in 24 hours, so Ethereum trades above $2,000 for the first time since August 2022. In September 2022, Ethereum transitioned from proof-of-work to ...
The Ethereum blockchain, the most important commercial highway in the digital-asset sector, successfully implemented a widely anticipated software upgrade. The so-called Shanghai update enables investors to queue up to withdraw Ether coins that they had pledged to help operate the network in return for rewards, a process called staking. Tim Beiko, who helps to co-ordinate the development of Ethereum, posted on Twitter on Wednesday that the upgrade is now “official.” The network revamp, also known as Shapella, is designed to let ...
Ethereum's Shapella upgrade has gone live. The upgrade took place just before 6:30 p.m. ET, marking the first major change since The Merge last year. The hard fork implemented Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) 4895, allowing users and validators to withdraw their staked ether (ETH) on the network. The developers will be monitoring for any potential issues with the upgrade's completion, as noted in a YouTube stream. The upgrade was released on the mainnet at epoch number 620,9536. In addition to the withdrawal mechanism, developers ...
