Hans,
i think u are correct.
by animating the lines, circles, u are putting a little more extra time in preparing your charts/posts, so yes, it helps the brain assimilate better.
i just hope Sir jarroo does not request animated charts (similar to yours) from me from now on.

i'll do the same (improve my chair) as soon as i can.

yup, the spine is part of the body's core.

probably in skinfx's MT4 broker feed, the difference is only 2pips.
remember, price varies on each feed.
personally, i'll consider that a DBHLC more than a BEOB. (note: not at an ideal location; a possible continuation setup.)

novice198,
Hello! im no guru... just a senior newbie
u passed on the trade for a reason. if u are not comfortable in taking such a trade, & u did pass on it, then i think u made a good decision.
perhaps, when u gain experience & consequently confidence, then in the future, who knows.. u'll be treating this particular trade differently & still come out ok.
yes, EMAs on close.

Hello Pinbar,
u can call it simply BUOB
BUEOB is a bit redundant (bullish engulfing outside bar).
i believe 'engulfing' & 'outside' mean the same thing.
also, try plotting the MACD divergence on the MACD's blue line rather than on the green histogram. i believe it's more effective.
if u havent noticed yet, u are using a different MACD indicator than the 'usual' one u often see here.
the 'usual' MACD (often seen in this thread) is an MT4 default (histogram with a moving line). that (histogram with a moving line) equates to the blue line & red dotted line in your MACD indicator. put these two MACD indicators on your chart to see what i mean.
[the green histogram in your MACD is just the difference of the blue & red lines]
here are the same charts (H4 - Weekly, FXDD charts) using the 'usual' MACD

I've read that before.
yes, there seem to be a difference in the code (programming), but not necessarily creating false signals.
you see, we (only) have a visual issue here.
users of either MACDs just need to be aware which is which:
for the 'real' MACD (in your above post's 3 charts), it shows the 2 signal lines (the blue line & red dotted line) AND a histogram (green histogram, which shows the difference between the 2 signal lines)
for the 'usual' MACD, it only has the signal lines which take the form of a line (representing the red line in your MACD) & a histogram (representing the blue line in your MACD)
Hope it is clear now

we use it as confluence/added confirmation for the trades we take.
RSI/MACD can show divergence &/or momentum.
we just have to know how to use them. (in this thread, indicators are used mainly to show divergence as u already know)
if u havent used both, try using one at a time.

divergence does not necessarily entail a reversal. sometimes, it just means ' temporary decrease in trend strength'
in this $chf chart, uptrend is strong. since the BEOB did not break, & price in fact went above the BEOB, this tells us up trend is still in play.

i only recently opened an Oanda (my second) account.(im very late to the Oanda party, should've done so 2-3 years earlier )
it's a breath of fresh air:
i can now trade any higher timeframe (i have been restricted to do so before, due to the size of my account); lesser stress; good/correct position sizing (just like what Mike & other people mention here)
u should try Oanda/Oanda-like brokers (for optimal position sizing).
btw, imho a 100-pip stop is too rigid, considering every trade setup is unique.

sell stop, based on H1 PA (that potential BEOB)?
a SL based on M15's 365ema might be too tight (will possibly stop u out before price moves in your favor).
it would be better to place a stop loss, in this case, at an M30/H1/H4 swing high &/or EMA, or strictly at an H1 area (if H1 is the trade setup timeframe).
Good luck!!

i see.. u have a point.
however, i am of the opinion that most things can be learned & assimilated.. provided a person gives time & dedication. passion helps too.
im very much into music instruments so i'd like to share my view.
in your music example, 1000 hours may not be enough as maximum dedicated time for certain people.
it depends entirely on the person (how gifted he/she is; how much time is dedicated on a particular craft; etc..)
if one is serious at wanting to achieve trading (or music) success, he will dedicate adequate time to learning all about it.... no matter how long it takes.
There are deterrents, obstacles, failures along the way, but that's just a natural part of every process/progression.

dont forget, things dont start in an ideal way.
u have a fair share of the bad & the worse information (like here & here).... we all do.....
the usual process is:
we search through the web.. sooner or later we come across a gold mine (such as Forex Factory)... & in it, after minor/intense search, we find a gold bar(James16 thread).

Hello fxdrive,
imho, i think u are better off pursuing/concentrating on looking for (& studying what constitutes) better setups than looking for a 'killer timezone'.... as good setups occur regardless of the time/timezone.
most big players are probably using the 5pm NY close as the 'end of day', if that's what u are asking for. again, i think u can do well with or without this info (by concentrating on looking for/trading good setups)
Focus your time on the more important issues
Hope this helps

after dragging the SL, EP & TP lines to the desired area, u have to refresh the chart to display an updated calculation of the indicator's details ('Quick calculation', as shown in a black box on your chart)

Hello novice198,
it would be better if u post the respective charts too... as we all use different brokers/platforms that show different looking bars/patterns (not everyone has/use IBFX)
that way, the seniors can respond with more precision & details.

is Elise a lady or the car?
....."undercut the vwap for a client order and earn himself an Elise"? sounds

Hello CY,
wow, monthly chart...talk about a long term trade
that's a huge bar.
if u plot a Fib from 2008 lows to the 2010 highs, that huge bar stopped at 50%.
i remember a post by Sir James16 (it was discussed a few weeks/months back, but i dont have the link yet, will look for it) talking about a huge bar like this one piercing several fib levels & ends up at/closes around 50/61.8% Fib ..... it gets a bounce (move up) instead of continuing down.
i see possible traffic around 70.00/71.00 area.
if u plan to take this one, u may reduce your position size
or wait for a retracement so u can have a tighter stop
or simply say "pass" on this trade.
EDIT:
ok, that's the one, u got it, LOL

if so, it's pretty small... & an inside bar-- it's not protruding away from the other bars
also, possible traffic at 75.00 area.

create a template.
have a chart with that indicator set in place. then right click anywhere on the chart, go to Template, then Save template. name the new template as u wish (let say u named it "Andrea BRN"). there u have it. repeat as necessary.
now, if u wanna apply to this to other new/blank charts.... right click anywhere on the new chart, go to template, & look for "Andrea BRN" on the template list

u were aware of ertorque's Fib but u forgot to plot the above fib. this was the fib i was talking about (which i think eventually ertorque realized the same scenario that he was in)
after plotting the above fib, compare it with arctos chart (remember ,turn it upside down). then read this again.
Hope it makes sense now.

u know what... as early as last year, im having this dilemma:
most nice guys here, if & when we meet up, want a meet & drink event (beer, cognac, whiskey etc.-- depending on the age) to take place (the ladies prefer wine ).
i'd rather have a
-meet & play sports/music
-meet & hike
-meet & 'ride the dirt' (my plan for KissFan)
-meet & climb
-meet & base jump
-meet & date (your *age-appropriate* friends)
-meet & show me your trading room/trading laptop
-meet & tour me around (using your fx profits, lol)
ok, ok... let me have just one bottle (or 1 glass), ok

price has pierced through that TL on both sides a few times, rendering it invalid --- just my view. (for strict TL users, just 1 poke/piercing on the other side of a TL renders that TL invalid)
price touching that TL on the big white arrow is more of a coincidence, & based more on the 0.6850 figure, 0.6850ish PPZ &/or that red MA.
but if u have found a way to use a TL in that same way consistently, then it's ok.

maybe your orders disappeared because the limit orders expired (u set a time-based expiry or on default there is a time-based expiry which u overlooked)?
[when u set a limit order in Oanda, u have to specify the currency pair, buy/sell, at what price, then an (limit order time-based) expiry]

i havent checked the chart fully... but this is specifically why i personally refrain from rating setups as "A, or C-" etc.
we have to understand each trader is unique: the experience, the risk appetite, the goal, the trading personality (aggressive/conservative, etc) are all unique.
besides, there isnt & we cant have a stone-cast criteria for what an A+ or a C- setup should look like (because of the reasons stated above) that everyone would agree on.
of course, through extensive reading we can have an idea of what an A/A+ setup should look like, but eventually we suit the setups that we trade & the setup's ratings to our own personality/taste.
Having said that, it's great to see a discussion arise from a single trade setup .
seriously, we learn from it, in 1 way or another.

we may see new 2010 highs, possibly 1.1300 - 1.1700 area.

to add to what Sir Mike said..
we can say
-a trend is a series of bars (not necessarily all consecutive bearish or all consecutive bullish bars) moving predominantly in a single direction.
-a trend can be defined as price making higher highs & higher lows for an uptrend (lower highs & lower lows for a downtrend), just like a stair case
-a trend can be defined as a function of a moving average. example, if price is above a 200 day MA, then price is in an uptrend; reverse for a downtrend.
each time frame has its own trend. but eventually & always, price trends on lower time frames oscillates in sync/in harmony/synchronistic with the higher timeframes.
usually the patterns are
uptrend - consolidation - uptrend OR downtrend - consolidation - downtrend [trend continuation]
uptrend - consolidation - downtrend OR downtrend - consolidation - uptrend [trend reversal]
i hope i got it all right.
